About F. Ryan Wermeling, MD
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon
A native of Bowling Green, Dr. Wermeling values getting to know his patients on a personal level and offering each patient an individualized plan. He understands that medical procedures can be daunting, and he takes the time to fully explain each procedure and to answer any questions his patients may have. He believes in working collaboratively with his patients to achieve their individual goals and the best possible outcome.
Dr. Wermeling graduated from the University of Notre Dame and then returned home to Kentucky to attend medical school at the University of Louisville. He has always had a passion for teaching, and in medical school he helped to run a clinic where he taught suturing techniques to fellow medical students. Dr. Wermeling was drawn to plastic surgery because of the transformative nature of its procedures, and he is pleased to offer his patients modern, state-of-the-art techniques.
After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Wermeling completed residency at the prestigious Integrated Plastic Surgery Program at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. In recognition of his exemplary teaching skills, he was awarded the Henry C. Vasconez Resident Teaching Award.
During residency, Dr. Wermeling trained in all modern plastic surgery techniques. Dr. Wermeling is board certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He has a special focus on breast reconstruction and is pleased to offer microsurgical and pre-pectoral breast reconstruction methods.
Dr. Wermeling was privileged to be mentored by Dr. John Weeter during medical school and throughout his residency, and he is proud to be part of Associates in Plastic Surgery, PLLC. the longest established plastic surgery practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Wermeling is actively involved in the local community and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Greater Louisville Medical Society Foundation. In his spare time, he enjoys biking in Cherokee Park and spending time with his wife and two rescue dogs.
About Jodi Thomas
Jodi Thomas earned her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Sullivan University. She also has earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Western Kentucky University. As a native of Los Alamos, NM, Jodi enjoys spending her free time outdoors with her husband and dog, as well as digging into a good book. Jodi was drawn to plastic surgery by its ability to leave patients feeling wholesome and establish positive outcomes in meaningful times.
Jodi has special interests in reconstructive breast surgery and is operating a weight loss program aimed at helping those looking for an effective and motivating change. She is also certifiedthrough the American Academy of Facial Esthetics for injection of botulinum toxin and dermal fillers. She is honored to be joining Dr. F. Ryan Wermeling and team at Associates in Plastic Surgery, the longest established plastic surgery practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
